South African guitarist Guy Buttery in the studio with John Schaefer for tonight’s New Sounds. After one of the tunes, Schaefer exclaims, “that is insane! …I have never seen anybody do what you just did in the middle of that piece there.” Lap-steel meets zither in an extended tapping technique combined with finger-picking on guitar.
Suffice it to say, there’s a lot of guitar as percussion instrument - making the secret drummer inside of host John Schaefer VERY happy.
